B Wijshijer (they/them), a.k.a shrimpychip, is a queer arts practitioner of Minangkabau Indonesian and white settler descent, currently based in Tkaronto, Canada. Wijshijer makes silly sneaky videos, performances, installations, digital images and digital props. Their work interrogates computer-mediated intimacy via the societal constructions of online scams, tricks and jokes. Digital space allows Wijshijer to evade time and distance, evoking a type of pseudo-omniscient presence in a network that promotes both exhibitionism and paranoia of being seen. Interested in magic, love and transcendence within late capitalism, their work jests within the contrast of unity, bliss and the commodity.

Wijshijer received their MFA from the University of Waterloo in 2020 and their BFA from OCAD University in 2017. They have exhibited internationally and nationally, including shows at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto, InSpace Gallery, Xpace Cultural Centre, and the plumb.
